CPFF ILD Fellowship Program

The Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation is pleased to announce a call for applications to the Canadian ILD Fellowship Award*. These two awards will each support a 1- or 2-year clinical/research fellowship with at least 75% of time protected for research-related activities. The combination of clinical and research activities will provide candidates with the opportunity for academic career development that will enable candidates to become key national and international members of the ILD community. Candidates will be expected to lead a research project at their training institution, with the goal of also participating in multicentre activities that will establish nationwide connections with other Canadian centres.

Applicants should be Canadian citizens who have completed respirology training in a Canadian fellowship program and who are applying to an ILD training program at an established Canadian ILD centre that is actively engaged in ILD research. Trainees from outside Canada will be considered on an exceptional basis provided they can demonstrate a clear path to a faculty position at a Canadian centre, including a written commitment from that centre.

Mentors should submit the following to rosemary@cpff.ca as a single PDF before noon EST on March 15, 2018:
1. Curriculum vitae.
2. Two letters of reference (these should be sent to the mentor directly by the individual writing the letter).
3. A letter of support from the proposed mentor, including assurance of access to the necessary local resources.
4. A 1-page personal statement summarizing the applicants interest in the program and what they hope to accomplish in this position and in their career.
5. A 1-page description of planned activities during the timeline of their award (either 1-year or 2-year plan).
6. A 3-page research proposal.

Applications will be considered based on all components of the application package. Particular emphasis will be placed on the applicant and training plan/environment. Late applications and applications longer than the allotted space will not be considered. Successful applicants will be notified on April 3.

*The Canadian ILD Fellowship Award is supported by Boehringer Ingelheim (Canada) Ltd. and Hoffmann-La Roche Limited.
