Physical Activity & Pulmonary Rehab in Pulmonary Fibrosis – Dr. Paul Hernandez

In this session, Dr. Paul Hernandez discusses exercise, physical activity, and pulmonary rehabilitation in pulmonary fibrosis.  At the end of this discussion, as a patient with pulmonary fibrosis, you should better understand why you are so limited when you try to exert yourself, if you should try to increase your physical activity level, and how you can exercise in a safe and effective manner.

Dr. Paul Hernandez is a Respirologist and Head/Chief, Division of Respirology (Central Zone, Nova Scotia Health Authority), Medical Director of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program and co-lead of the 3-Intermediate Care Unit at the QEII Health Sciences Centre. He is a Professor of Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Dr. Hernandez is president-elect of the Executive Committee of Canadian Thoracic Society, past chair of the Adult Respirology Examination Board of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and past chair of the CTS COPD Clinical Assembly. Prior to moving to Halifax, he completed medical school and post-graduate training in Internal Medicine and Respirology at McGill University. His main clinical and research areas of interest are COPD, asthma, pulmonary rehabilitation, and pulmonary hypertension.
