Understanding Pulmonary Fibrosis: The Basics – Dr. Lawrence Homik

Tune in as Dr. Lawrence Homik, a community-based respirologist helps patients and caregivers understand the basics of pulmonary fibrosis in this CPFF Hope Breathes Here Educational Session. Dr. Homik explains pulmonary fibrosis (PF) as an interstitial lung disease (ILD), describes how PF changes lung function, talks about the symptoms of PF, what causes PF, IPF vs. other PF-ILDs, and provides a brief overview of diagnosis and therapy.

Lawrence Homik, MD, FRCPC is a community-based Respirologist /Intensivist based at Winnipeg Clinic, Concordia and Grace Hospitals. He is regularly involved in medical education for family physicians and fellowship program candidates in intensive care and Respirology. He has extensive experience in clinical research trials involving Asthma, COPD, and Pulmonary Fibrosis, with published papers in Asthma and Hypoxemia. Dr. Homik is the co-chair of the multi-disciplinary discussion group for Interstitial Lung Disease, a participant in Interstitial Lung Disease Advisory Boards, and past President of the Manitoba Thoracic Society. He received his medical training and fellowship in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
