My mum was diagnosed with IPF in April 2016 and I just lost her on September 11, 2020. I’m crying as I write this because our relationship was so strained and challenging but this past 10 months while my husband and I were her caregivers she had definitely mellowed and become so much more appreciative of everything and everyone. I grieve the mum I wish I had always wanted but am so thankful that I could provide her with the care and love she needed during this scary pandemic all the while battling with this horrible disease. Our last words to each other were, “I love you” and that brings me comfort……… rest in peace Mum.
