Rebecca Cunningham

Here I pay tribute to my daughter, Rebecca, who put her life and that of her family on hold last year for the 89 days that I was in hospital and in transitional care.

Rebecca went above and beyond anybody’s expectations as she cared for me and looked after my wife (Celia) who has many health concerns of her own.

Every time Rebecca came to the hospital she brought things that I needed as well as things she thought would boost my spirits. In the transitional care facility, she decorated my room like a small bachelor apartment with my own personal “beer” fridge (not real beer, of course), my guitar and my own bedding. She drove Celia to visit me and usually stayed at our house afterward to make dinner and do housework for Celia as well.
Rebecca also shared her Faith with me and that helped me know myself and understand what it meant to be alive; it has helped me shape what I will do with whatever time I have left here.

I can’t express just how grateful I am to Rebecca for what she did for me, and for Celia during this crisis.
